Dxing For Canadians

The following article on logging Canadian broadcast band stations, in conjunction with the official list published last month, should prove extremely helpful in securing some good “catches.” By “AIRFAN”

“Airfan” was the first person to send a correct report to CKCH.

OF ALL the stations of the countries of the continent of America, the Canadians prove the most elusive. The most consistent of these stations are CRCV, Vancouver, on 1100 k.c., who has been heard lately signing off at 7 p.m. N.Z. D.S.T.; CFCN, Calgary, on 1030 k.c., who dxes on Friday evenings till about 7 p.m., and CKY, Winnipeg, on 910 k.c., daily about 4.30 p.m., before XENT comes up in volume.

Many of the lower powered stations transmit regularly on a daylight schedule and the only occasions on which these stations may be heard in New Zealand, are on special DX broadcasts or on frequency checks.

The following is a list of Canadians that test with the Ottawa receiving frequency check station on the mornings of the 19th and 20th of each, month, time is N.Z. D.S.T. :—
