The New Zealand DX fraternity was stunned to learn of the passing of long-time NZRDXL member and DX Times editor, Mark Nicholls. Mark had long-term health issues, even so his passing on the morning of the 20th of August was a shock to us all.
The following from NZRDXL President, Bryan Clark:
Dear colleagues,
As you will know by now, our long time Chief Editor and League Life Member Mark passed away yesterday.
Mark’s funeral will be next Monday 25th August at St. John’s Church, Trentham, Upper Hutt at 1pm. There should be a notice in the Dominion Post on Saturday. The church is on the corner of Fergusson Drive and Moonshine Road, near the Trentham Railway Station.
I hope that long-time Wellington members will make the effort to attend the service on Monday to acknowledge Mark’s outstanding contribution to the DX League and the DX hobby.
Mark has battled ill health for a long time but he strived to ensure this did not interfere with his production of the DX Times every month. As our Patron Frank Glen has said Mark typified the kiwi “good keen man” committing time and enthusiasm to the hobby he loved.
We return to NZ next week and I will prepare my personal tribute and memories of Mark for the September DX Times.
Regards,
Bryan
